Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences had decided to renew its homepage. In the end, the complete website was revised and a new logo was created. Now the new homepage went online, the new appearance is visible on campus and in public space, and all this was celebrated during a big RWU launch party.

Professor Dr. Thomas Spägele opened the celebration and gave the official starting signal for the new appearance. "We dared to take a big step. That was courageous," said the rector of the university. The new logo has created a strong and catchy symbol that will make the university more present and visible in the region.

The starting point for revising the corporate design was the outdated website, which could hardly be used on a mobile phone. Impractical, when mobile devices are increasingly being used, especially by the younger generation. And straight for this group the university would like to arrange the entrance attractively: Young people and young adults in the region Upper Swabia-Lake Constance-Allgäu should know about the versatile offer at RWU. And it must be easy for them to find information about our 31 degree courses in the fields of engineering, IT, business, social work and healthcare," say Professor Klemens Ehret and Christoph Oldenkotte, who are responsible for the project at the university.

Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences: The RWU and the Lion

Quickly after the start of the project, it became clear to those responsible that a new website was not enough. And so for a year and a half many things on campus changed: logo, colours and fonts, magazine and flyer, stationery and business cards, posters and advertisements, flags and exhibition stands.

In the preparatory workshops, two characteristics of the university emerged, Ehret and Oldenkotte report. On the one hand, the strong regional roots: A large part of the students come from the region, the exchange with local companies and institutions is intensive. On the other hand, the international orientation plays an increasingly important role. Around 15 percent of the students come from abroad, partner universities can be found on all continents, and many of the cooperation partners from the region operate worldwide.

From this simultaneity of regionality and internationality, the agency Brandcode, which realised the relaunch project together with the university, developed the new logo: The lion is the heraldic animal of the city of Weingarten, the district of Ravensburg and the state of Baden-Württemberg and stands for the regional roots. The decision for the abbreviation RWU, derived from the English name Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences, complements the international orientation.

The official part of the RWU celebration ended with a large RWU cake delivered just in time. The rector, together with Martina and Christopher Lewis from the Brandcode agency, cut the cake. The festive afternoon ended in the evening with a party organized jointly by students from all four student councils. On this day, RWU presented itself as a place of lively diversity under a common - new - roof.
