Application

When applying for the first semester of a Bachelor's programme, please first check whether the study places for the programme are allocated via the Dialogue-Oriented Service Procedure (DoSV) via the platform hochschulstart.de. You can find a list of the respective degree programmes here. If this is the case, please register at hochschulstart.de as a first step. Make a note of your BID and BAN, which you may also need for applications to other universities.

Register in our online study application portal. More detailed instructions can be found directly in the portal. You can then go through the online application process. Please have the relevant documents, such as your university entrance qualification, ready.

Once you have completed all the steps of the online application process, you must finally submit your application electronically. Print out and sign the application form available for download and send it to the following address within the deadline:

Check your application status whenever you want in the online study application portal. Our admissions office will process your application as quickly as possible. If your application is valid, it takes part in the selection process after the application deadline.

If you are admitted to a degree programme, you will receive an offer of admission; if you are rejected, you will receive a rejection notice or an exclusion notice, if your documents have not been received in full or are not valid for the selection procedure.

If you have received an admission offer, you can accept the place within a specified period of time. In this context, you will receive a notification of admission online, which you can save for your records.

Once you have accepted your place, you can enrol online for the programme within the set enrolment period. Click on "Apply for enrolment" in the online application portal. In this step, further documents must be submitted. You will receive all further information you need from the Admissions Office.

Upon successful submission of all required documents and transfer of the semester fee (and eventually tuition fees), you will receive a confirmation of enrolment.

Start of lectures in the winter semester is in October and in the summer semester in March. You can find the exact date in our calendar.

There may be minor deviations from the start of lectures per study course.

• 15 July for the winter semester
• 15 January for the summer semester

The application deadlines for our English-language degree programmes are:

• 15 April for our Master's degree programmes (winter semester)
• 15 November for Bachelor's degree programmes (summer semester)

No, some of the courses are offered in the winter or summer semester. You can find out which degree programmes are offered when in the overview of study courses.

Please log in to our online study application portal.

You can interrupt your application at any time and resume it later if, for example, you need to search for information. Your previous data will be kept.

You can only process the application and the associated information until you have finally submitted it by clicking on "Submit application". If you want to change the application afterwards, you must first withdraw it and then submit it again. The "old" application will not be processed by the university until then.

In general this includes:

• photcopy of university entrance qualification (UEQ) including grading system if available
• publicly certified photocopy of your Bachelor's degree in English (if applying for a Master's degree program)
• specified certificate of language proficiency in English
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• summary of the Bachelor/Diploma thesis from your first degree (if applicable)
• references from your professional/research activities (if applicable)
