Teaching and research are oriented towards changing social realities and the resulting complex practical requirements. The high topicality is guaranteed by regional, national, international and interdisciplinary work.
The Faculty of Social Work, Health and Nursing is one of the founding faculties of the Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences. The courses offered include four Bachelor's and three Master's programmes. The Bachelor's programmes qualify students for a career in applied psychology, health economics, nursing and social work. The Master's programmes focus on the professional fields of applied health and social work science as well as management in social and health care.
The Faculty of Social Work, Health and Nursing is characterised by a wide range of teaching and learning opportunities as well as research activities. Teaching and research are oriented towards the changing social realities and the resulting complex practical requirements.
The high topicality of teaching and research is guaranteed by regional, national, international and interdisciplinary work. The further professionalisation of the social, nursing and health sciences taught here is promoted. The basic principle of interdisciplinary teaching, learning and research is a critical examination of social conditions.
This enables students to assume responsibility and to reflect on social and health inequalities, in which ethical principles, in particular human rights, and socio-political positioning play a leading role as guiding criteria.
The graduates help to create a fairer, more humane, healthier and more livable society. They are academically qualified and positioned to assume responsible and socially influential positions in the social and health care sectors.
During their studies, the faculty actively supports students in developing their professional identity, strategic networking and creative competence. To this end, special emphasis is placed on a broad scientific foundation.
The Weingarten location offers a high quality of life and an attractive job market, with which the Ravensburg-Weingarten University is sustainably networked. The work follows the maxim of personal cooperation and individual support across all statuses.
Teaching and research at the faculty are based on ethical principles and on the future challenges of the social and health care system. On the basis of a humanistic conception of man, the striving for solidarity, justice and self-responsibility is conveyed. Democracy, esteem, trust and fairness enrich the cooperation. The faculty combines performance orientation with a conscious promotion of students in special situations. The success of our students has a high priority for our actions.
Good teaching and learning, in view of the diversity of life situations, means comprehensive competence development, which includes personality development as well as subject content. To this end, the faculty uses a broad spectrum of methods based on the principles of participation, curiosity, sustainability and reflexivity.
Current scientific, practical, social and international developments are incorporated into teaching. The quality of teaching arises in the co-production process between committed teachers and motivated learners. Great importance is attached to meaningful and helpful mutual feedback.
