    The laboratory offers the most important electrochemical energy stores. For research and training purposes, test benches are mostly operated in the low power range. From lithium-ion batteries to fuel cells, all promising electrochemical energy converters and energy storage devices are available. Modern source-drop systems in the power range up to 1 kW are available for the characterization of the energy systems and for material tests, for example for the investigation of different fuel cell membranes. The prerequisites are also available for sophisticated characterization methods such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. In order to closely dovetail the experiments and the modelling, a simulation workstation with Comsol Multiphysics especially for batteries and fuel cells is available.

    The laboratory is continuously further developed within the framework of regular project and final theses.

    Further experiments in the field of renewable energies and process engineering are available for teaching purposes within the framework of internships.

    The laboratory is currently equipped with the following experimental stations:

    • Vanadium redox flow cell
    • Direct methanol fuel cell
    • Lthium-ion batteries
    • Radiation drying
    • CO2 adsorption on zeolites
    • Tube-in-tube heat exchanger
    • Membrane characterization
    • Rheology

    There are currently test stations under construction for:

    • Hydrogen fuel cell
    • Supercapacitors
    • Solar thermal energy
